Where the President is

Before I dive into where the Presidential nominees stand on Western Sahara lets take a look at the current white house, President Barack Obama.

First Ambassadors asked him to take a side in 2013.

Western Sahara may only encompass a few miles along a small strip of desert.

Thinking of doing a

Thinking about cranking out a summer of presidential candidates and there policies for the Middle East. Hinted at Hillary Clintons, but had a few questions about Bernie Sanders, Trump, etc....

Phone and blogging

so I usually blog by phone. I find that while the blogger ap makes it easy to draft and quickly publish something, that I miss a log of the full features. Therefore it's usally straight to my phones safari/Internet/ Google icon. However a few days ago I broke my phone. This cracked screen has made blogging a bit of a pain, a break from my usual system. Lookin forward to a new phone and a few new posts in the future.

If the UN and AU fail, theres other international organizations

http://allafrica.com/stories/201508181848.html

Possible fututre meeting with Ban Ki Moon

A Representative of the UN ( Canada's Kim Bolduc) and current leader of the refrendeum mission in Western Sahara held a meeting with  the Polisario's leader  Mohamed Abdelaziz . This could be in preparation for a official UN meeting between the secretary general and the leader of SADR's movement. http://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2015/08/165005/minurso-chief-holds-secret-meeting-with-polisario-leader/

Documentary lays it out in Denmark

Iara Lee's documentary on the 40 year conflict is making waves in Europe. Between growing support in both Europe and the AU, SADR might have a chance afterall http://www.spsrasd.info/en/content/documentary-life-waiting-referendum-and-resistance-western-sahara-screened-copenhagen

FIFA Sorta

Two teams representing countries that don't exist. its a small thing to think about but without a country, you have no sports team to represent you. Western Sahara Had an opportunity to play against another country that technically doesn't exist. Just awesome!

Born in an Algerian desert

As time goes on in this conflict between Western Sahara and Morocco individuals must wonder how long until the people of the SADR can no longer remember Western Sahara or want to return for that matter. At some point it would seem after so many decades, that those who have left and are currently refugees in Algeria must come to the realization they wont go back? or their children's children would no longer consider it home and want to come back. How many decades does it take to no longer be where your parents are from?

Freedom of the Press

Interesting article about a semi-journalist and the trouble he has gotten into in Morocco.

Freedom of the Press can feel so basic to Americans that it is always tough to imagine a system were openly speaking out against the states decisions is tranny. it would be difficult to imagine the news today without open insults against the US government or attacks on both the presidents policies and character. Too  be honest it can be difficult to see the good in either system, both have serious negatives, When people insult the president it feels terrible to watch, but their right to speak against him in print and television has a lot of value.

Close to Home

A recent article in my local paper featured a story of a Moroccan Man who suffocated in a suitcase as his brother drove him across the ferry to Spain. The small strait between Morocco and Spain is a historic migrator path and had been crossed by many peoples for hundreds of years. Morocco is constantly in a migratory phase.

Western Sahara: Statehood?

Hilliary Clinton an Ally of Morocco

Presidential Nominee and Democratic front Runner stands with Morocco. The relationship with the international demand for phosphates makes it easier to over look the Moroccan domination of Western Sahara. Rep Pitts of Lancaster has been a long time supporter of Self determination, didn't mind calling out the presidential nominee and others for their stance on Morocco.

I wonder where the rest of the Presidential nominees stand on Western Sahara? http://ncronline.org/blogs/ncr-today/hillary-clinton-phosphates-and-western-sahara

#ColonialProblems

No question that issues between Morocco and Algeria stem more from the SADR and Great Morocco. Colonialism is also at fault of course. The French domination of the area until the 1960's cause major issues between the two now independent nations. http://www.worldpoliticsreview.com/articles/16286/france-s-hollande-finds-tricky-balance-in-morocco-algeria-ties

Algeria vs Morocco

Its nothing new to the region, an almost slug fest between these two countries. The Algerian Government Continues to host the refugees and political capitol in exile of  the SADR. While the idea of Greater Morocco does not include an independent Algeria. http://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2015/07/164406/algeria-morocco-the-politics-of-hate/

US Support

US government had no problem supporting the Morroccan Government and celebrating their relationship during Moroccan Feat of the throne.

The Bridge

Morocco has served as a bridge of many cultures from Africa to Europe. That's why so many groups  moved into and through this country. A mix of Arabs, Berbers, sub Saharan Africans. This historic bridge continues to contect Spanish and Europeans with North Africa.

Angry Young Men ( and Women)

Classic Archetype of any revolution/ movement / rock and roll band, is the angry young passionate and furious teenagers and young adults. for the Sahrawi people its no different, but unlike James Dean these Rebels do have a cause.

Its All Rock N Roll untill Colonialsim gets involoved

Great snap shot and quick comparison between two problems the world faces.

The occupation of the Last Colony was linked to that of the Israel and Palestine conflict.

Watch the video of the Musician (Aziza Brahim ) who canceled her concert because Israel reminds her too much of the Sahrawi plight.
